Workshops
The Highway Sanctuary hosts ongoing workshops in the form of classes, talks and performances.
These workshops are free to locals. Because we have limited space, workshop sign-ups are first come, first served. Most artwork created during classes will be added to our evolving 5 acre sculpture garden.
Our instructors are artists who are paid to share their process, skills, and experience with you. If you have an idea for a workshop and would like to be considered to lead one, please contact us. We’d love to hear from you!
We ask that you respect the time and resources of our organization and the instructor and please show up if you’ve registered (or contact us if you cannot).
Upcoming Workshops

“Rocks and Wind”
An embodied experience of grief and movement.
Sunday November 16, 3-5pm
FREE! No registration is required for this workshop. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
Previous artist-in-residence Sophia Lehrich aka +AWA+ (who built the onsite installation piece “The Cookoo’s Nest Oasis”) along with dancers/choreographers Barbara Koch and Sophia Rumasuglia come together at the Highway Sanctuary to offer a special movement workshop/performance open to all.
The workshop will consist of breathing exercises in combination with sounds to produce a somatic effect on the body and mind. This is an open-heart conversation for those who wish to be vulnerable and share a story. This is followed by a movement performance offering by two professional dancers.
Please dress comfortably and for the weather, as part of the experience will be outside, ability-allowing. All ages are welcome.
